This discussion of transfer barriers that make it less likely that under-served students will transfer and complete bachelor’s degrees. A panel of transfer experts representing Ohio community colleges and universities will share their observations on equity barriers and what they are doing to make transfer successful on their campuses for all students. This webinar is a prelude to our Annual Conference, June 4, which will take a deeper look at equity issues with John Fink, co-author of the Transfer Playbook, whose research at the Community College Research Center at Columbia University is specifically aimed at defining structural barriers that reduce access to opportunity for black, low-income and first generation students.

The loss of credits when students transfer from community colleges to universities results in increased time and cost for students and makes these students far less likely to earn bachelor’s degrees. Unfortunately, many community college students are not able to transfer most of their credits earned for application to their baccalaureate degrees. This session will explore possible causes and solutions related to credit loss in Ohio.
